Description

Media Strategist

To interpret and support the overall marketing strategy by giving direction with the setting of media benchmarks to ensure the delivery of the client’s message to the right people at the right time and in the right channel in line with the marketing objectives.

 

Key Performance Area (Objective)

To develop and manage media/communication strategies to meet marketing objective for clients

based on their briefs within the time frame specified.

  • To provide clients with feedback within 48 hours of receiving the brief with comments.
  • To understand and interpret the marketing & business objectives from the brief received.
  • To conduct, consider and interpret relevant research using media tools available and Conduct at least one brainstorming session for each strategy written.
  • To use communication and propriety tools, look at what competitors are doing and comment on how clients can capitalize on this.
  • To document relevant and obtainable benchmarks (including at least one innovative idea) and give direction for the most suitable communication strategy in support of the identified objectives.
  • To remain the custodian of the direction given and to lead the team and client to fulfill all
  • objectives successfully via written contact/status reports.
  • Oversee overall project budget allocation for each strategy/flow plan.
  • To make use of available resources ( e.g. brainstorms, IMC, Tirisano etc.) to develop collaborative IMC strategies
  • Have a briefing session where all details of the campaign are discussed with the relevant team members 

 

Key Performance Area (Objective)

To provide ongoing service to clients in order to increase (retain) business for the organization and apply industry best practices.

  • To understand the client’s business and objectives through regular contact (email, telephone and meetings).
  • To keep the client abreast of the latest research releases within 7 days of its release, with relevant
  • commentary to client business.
  • To provide clients with relevant media information pertaining to their business such as ad spend, competitor activity, media trends, and new media opportunities on an ongoing basis or as requested by client.

 

Key Performance Area (Objective)

To facilitate reports and post-campaign analyses in order to assess the effectiveness of campaigns with learnings for the future.

  • To provide and interpret the reports and post-campaign analyses by using relevant communication and proprietary tools, as well as provide and interpret learnings and future recommendations, to clients within 1 month of the end of the campaign for all media except radio, which should be provided to the client within 2 months after the end of the campaign.
  • To manage and track annual media owner commitments.

 

Key Performance Area (Objective)

To remain current in terms of latest media trends and industry opportunities in order to provide clients with best of breed service.

  • To attend relevant media owner presentations and industry body meetings/presentations at least once a month.
  • To conduct regular meetings with media owners as often as necessary (at least 5% of time per month).
  • To keep abreast of business, communication, consumer, economic and media developments in SA and internationally by reading all the latest articles and attending brainstorming sessions as and when required.

 

Training and Development

  • Actively participate in all internal meetings such as - Audacious meetings, Media Owner
  • Presentations, training etc.
  • Ensure competency and upskilling on all media platforms (including digital)
  • To keep abreast of all relevant technology and tools/methodology developments
